Spain international Thiago Alcantara will miss Sunday’s league clash against Tottenham Hotspur due to a suspected positive COVID-19 test.
The Liverpool midfield maestro is now in isolation and will be sidelined for the high-billed outing in the English capital, confirmed reports from the club’s official website.
Thiago’s absence adds to the midfield woes for the boss Jurgen Klopp who has his anchorman and skipper Jordan Henderson ruled out of the game with an illness but has tested negative for the virus.
Klopp already had the Brazilian Fabinho missing from the first-team fold following the defensive midfielder registering a positive COVID-19 test earlier this week ahead of the 3-1 win over Newcastle United at Anfield.
Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Curtis Jones were the trio from the Reds camp who were forced to sit out Thursday night’s encounter on home turf following their testing positive for coronavirus which has been on the spread of late across the country.
