Thiago ready to give whatever it takes to lift the FA Cup trophy

The Spanish baller discusses his ‘frustrating situation’ with Liverpool as they aim for Wembley’s glory against Chelsea on Sunday.

Thiago Alcantara, a midfielder for Liverpool, is ready to put his sadness behind him when the Reds face Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

The former Bayern Munich man is ready to put his sadness behind him and play in his first FA Cup final for Liverpool on Saturday when they face Chelsea at Wembley.

After picking up a hamstring injury in the warm-up, Liverpool’s midfield wizard was cruelly denied the chance to start in the Carabao Cup final at the end of February. The Reds went on to win a penalty shootout against Saturday’s opponents, Chelsea.

Thiago was seen crying on the Liverpool bench shortly after kick-off in the Carabao Cup final, being consoled by Alisson Becker. The Reds’ number six hopes to offer the fans a memorable day in his interview with the club’s official site.

“It came to my mind that the last season was very hard for myself to try to be here and not having the fans in the stadium, not having this fun that this sport gives to you. We fought a lot to arrive in that moment, that you can play in a final, and then suddenly because I had a bad thing, a bad neck problem and it caused just like a chain of movement that in the end caused me an injury in the hammy.

“It’s a moment where you are just frustrated. You just calm down a bit, you try to be cold enough to face the final. It was as it was. We won it and, for sure, it’s bittersweet that you don’t play that game, but you’re happy for the team.”

The Spaniard has been influential in the Reds’ success this season after having an unforgettable first campaign last season where injuries haven’t been kind for the former Barcelona man.

However, there were never any questions raised over the 31-year-old prowess and what qualities he would add to the current mesmerizing Liverpool side.

Thiago is one of the most decorated players in the world, but the FA Cup is the one title missing from his impressive resume, as per his opinion.

“We came from other countries – not just me but other players – and just met this amazing competition, the oldest in the world,” added Thiago. “We are really excited to play – not just the competition itself but a final. We’re ready for it.

“It doesn’t matter if we didn’t win [it] before or for a long time. It’s just about a trophy that we can win and we add in our backpack this new challenge. We’re looking forward to it. Wembley is an amazing stadium. It’s special itself but then you know that Wembley is used for special moments. There’s different context and we’re ready to go to London.”

Klopp’s selection will almost certainly change on Sunday evening, as the Merseyside club must prepare for their league match against Southampton barely 48 hours after the final.

Jurgen Klopp’s team are still thinking about their amazing quadruple chase, and the German manager will be working hard to chevalier his players’ match fitness.
