Liverpool secured a return to winning ways against Spurs on Sunday to clinch their first win on the road this season in the Premier League.
MATCH PROCEEDINGS
The Reds frontman Darwin Nunez was ever present in the opening stages of the game with the Uruguayan getting two attempts on goal inside the first seven minutes.
It was only fair that it was Nunez who was the provider for the opener with the striker teeing up Mo Salah inside the box for an easy finish from the latter past Hugo Lloris.
Spurs came close to levelling the affair as Ivan Perisic saw his header hit the post while Liverpool made the most of the home side’s defensive misjudgments to double their lead.
Eric Dier was guilty of a weak header which allowed Salah to race past the English defender and execute a clever dink over the onrushing Lloris to make it 2-0.
The second period was started with much vigour from the hosts and Perisic was again a threat for the Liverpool backline as he rattled the crossbar.
Salah’s attempt to net a hat-trick was denied with a rather routine stop from Lloris while Spurs’ change off the bench, with Dejan Kulusevski coming on, reaped instant rewards.
Kulusevski found his strike partner Harry Kane with a clever pass in behind the Liverpool defence and the latter was clinical as ever in finding the back of the net.
Liverpool, however, had no further scares in store for them with Jurgen Klopp’s men putting up a strong show at the back in the final moments to clinch the three points.
