The home side started brightly on the attacking front and talisman Harry Kane slotted home the opener from Tanguy Ndombele’s through ball in behind the Liverpool backline.

Antonio Conte’s men remained dominant going forward as Kane’s strike partner Son had two chances to extend Spurs’ lead but ended up squandering both with Liverpool failing to keep in check an inspired Spurs frontline.

Spurs midfield man Dele Alli could have added to his side’s advantage but was unable to find the bottom right-hand corner with Liverpool’s man between the sticks Alisson putting out a terrific save.

The goalscorer Kane was lucky to see only a yellow card following a lunging challenge on Andy Robertson with the visitors finally finding the back of the net before the interval to get back in the game.

Diogo Jota equalised with a fine header from an Andy Robertson delivery into the box as Jurgen Klopp’s men ensured the scoreline at 1-1 heading into the break.

Liverpool continued to spring forward with energy and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s timed cross was met by his fellow full-back Robertson whose put the Reds ahead.

Despite Alisson’s brilliance all game, a lapse of judgement from the shot-stopper allowed Son to find the leveller with Spurs making it 2-2 with less than 20 minutes to play for.

A rash tackle on Emerson resulted in a red card for Robertson with Liverpool playing it safe in the dying embers of the game to secure a hard-earned point.
