Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson have got the call from England manager Gareth Southgate for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers which are due to be held next month.
The Liverpool pairing will be in line to feature for The Three Lions against Hungary, Andorra and Poland with Southgate’s men eyeing up a run of good form against the opposition sides to make their case for topping the group.
Both Arnold and Henderson had been included in England’s squad for this summer’s mega-event UEFA European Championships but it was only the Liverpool skipper who got involved in the tournament with Arnold sidelined with an injury.
He has got the new season off to a great start with Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders, however, and will be backing himself to secure a starting role at right-back for England where has the likes of Kieran Trippier and Reece James to compete against.
Henderson was used sparingly in the Euros after returning to the pitch from a long-term groin issue but the 31-year-old could find himself to be an established starter for his country despite having Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips waiting in the wings.
