Liverpool defensive mainstay Virgil Van Dijk has backed his teammate Mohamed Salah to come back stronger from his World Cup disappointment with Egypt.
Salah’s Egypt were handed a defeat by Senegal on Tuesday with the Liverpool talisman unable to lead his country into the mega event set to be held in Qatar later this year.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, Van Dijk has voiced support for Salah with the former claiming that the Egyptian would be at his brilliant best for what remains of the campaign on his return to the Anfield fold.
“I am sure he will turn the disappointment into success for the rest of the season. We still have everything to play for so, there are a lot of things still to achieve for him.
“As for Sadio [Mane], I wish him all the best and if he is in our group, he is going to need that good luck!”
The Reds have depended on Salah’s prolific self in front of the goal over the course of the season with the 29-year-old winger leading the Premier League goalscoring charts with 20 strikes to his tally.
Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders have already clinched the Carabao Cup trophy and still remain in contention for the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup.
