Virgil Van Dijk Sends Warning To Manchester City

Liverpool center-back Virgil Van Dijk has sent out a warning message to Premier League champions Manchester City that the Reds will not be going anywhere without a fight for the title.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp guided Liverpool to their most successful points tally in a Premier League season ever since the club was formed back in 1892 as the Merseyside giants racked up a staggering 97 points. But that was still not enough to be crowned as Champions of England as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City pipped the title by just one solitary point.

Liverpool did manage to win the Champions League title but Klopp wants to end the 30-year long wait for a League title at Anfield. The Reds are currently in preseason and training to get better ahead of the new season and 28-year-old Van Dijk has fired a warning shot for the blue half of Manchester.

The PFA Player of the Season said that Liverpool will be competing at an even higher level to go toe to toe with Manchester City, “It’s not that we’re not going to try this year, it’s not that we’re going away, We’re going to try to do even better than we did last year. It’s going to be very hard because Man City will be stronger again, the other teams will be stronger again as well (as) they try to get to that level too”

The Dutchman was also bold enough to admit that City was better last season, “To lose it that close was disappointing at the time, but I could put it away straight away because the fact is that they were just a little bit better back then. If people say that we could’ve done better, then they are wrong I think. We only lost one game in the whole season. The only thing was that Manchester City was just a little bit better. We have to respect that.”
