West Brom 1-2 Liverpool Match Report | Premier League 20-21

Liverpool walked away from The Hawthorns with all three points in the most unpredictable manner as Alisson Becker, the man between the sticks for Jurgen Klopp’s side, headed the winner in stoppage time to give his side the win.

The visitors came from behind to stage the victory away from home with Mohammad Salah levelling the scoreline after Hal Robson-Kanu had opened the scoring after which it all came down to Alisson of all people to find the back of the net.

West Brom had already suffered the fate of relegation but looked in no mood to cede the game to the visitors who were in search of it to keep their top-four hopes very much in the reckoning.

Sam Allardyce’s side were rewarded for their early hold on the game’s tempo as Robson-Kanu made the most of Liverpool’s defensive frailties to slot the ball past Alisson with a neat finish.

The Merseysiders did regroup impressively following the early setback but were unable to find the back of the net as chances falling Mane and Salah’s way went wasted.

Salah, however, made up for his earlier troubles by driving the ball into the far corner of the net after being set up by Mane and both teams went into the half-time break with the scoreline at 1-1.

Liverpool looked the more threatening all throughout the closing 45 minutes as well and Klopp further brought on attacking reinforcements in the form of Xherdan Shaqiri to provide the extra bit of an edge in the final third of the pitch.

Substitute Gini Wijnaldum had an easy chance falling his path immediately upon his arrival but the Dutchman shot wide from an angle where he could have well put his side in the lead.

As a corner was rewarded to Liverpool in the final seconds of the four-minute-long stoppage time, Alisson came forward and in the most unprecedented of events headed Alexander-Arnold’s pinpoint delivery into the far right corner to secure a pivotal win for the Reds.
