The Reds have gained ground as one of the biggest heavyweights in world football largely due to the superb showings across the past couple of seasons by a squad under the charge of Jurgen Klopp.
Despite a misfiring run of displays on fronts this time around, Klopp’s men have achieved European as well as Premier League title-winning glory in consecutive years, the latter being the first in 30 years on Merseyside.
With a host of big-name players employed by the club who have helped bring rich success to the famed halls of Anfield, let us take a look at five of the highest-earning players for Liverpool-
1. Mohammad Salah – £200,000-a-week
The Egyptian superstar remains Liverpool FC’s biggest bet on the football pitch and is deservedly pocketing the highest salary amongst his teammates at the club.
Salah signed for the Reds back in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma and has made his mark in the most significant of manners whilst turning out in the Liverpool FC colours.
The 28-year-old forward has twice been named the Premier League Golden Boot winner and has so far netted 92 times in 138 top-flight outings for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit.
2. Thiago Alcantara – £192,308-a-week
Klopp’s latest recruit at Anfield is the Spanish midfield maestro Thiago Alcantara who was brought in last summer from Bayern Munich after months of intense negotiations.
The La Masia youth product had been a major presence in the centre of the park for Bayern and with a number of top sides across the continent jostling for his signature, Liverpool FC had to shell out big money to fend off the competition.
Thiago is yet to hit the ground running for the Merseysiders as he struggles to adapt to Klopp’s style of play but expectations are rife of the midfielder performing his very best in what is yet come of his Anfield career.
3. Roberto Firmino – £180,000-a-week
Firmino is third on Liverpool FC’s highest-paid player’s list with the Brazil international pocketing £180,000-a-week, a figure similar to what is earned by his teammate Virgil van Dijk, who also features amongst the five highest-earning Reds.
The 29-year-old attacker’s performances in the final third of the pitch have endured a dismal slump over the course of this campaign and with talk of his exit from Anfield this summer gaining momentum in recent times, it remains to be seen whether Firmino would be a fixture on this list should it be ascertained next season.
4. Virgil van Dijk – £180,000-a-week
The absence of Van Dijk, Liverpool FC’s man mountain at the back, owing to a season-ending injury layoff has been one major factor behind the uninspiring run of displays witnessed at Anfield across the entirety of this campaign.
Ever since joining the Reds from fellow Premier League side Southampton in January 2018, the club-record signing has transformed Liverpool FC’s backline into one of the most solid of units in European football, largely attributing towards his salary worth a £180,000-a-week.
5. Jordan Henderson – £140,000-a-week
The ever-present Reds skipper Jordan Henderson is the fifth and final entry into the list of the highest-paid players at Anfield with the 30-year-old midfield general commanding a weekly wage of £140,000.
Henderson too has missed a major chunk of this season due to a groin injury which has forced the England international to undergo surgery amid rising fears of him facing a race against time in order to prove his fitness for the forthcoming UEFA Euros in the summer.
