Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with some of the most exciting midfield talents this summer but a deal for any of the names looks unlikely much to the displeasure of the Anfield faithful.
The Reds have added reinforcements to every department except for the heart of the midfield where some would argue that Klopp could do with some fresh blood heading into the start of the next season.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are both entering the final 12 months of their respective contracts on Merseyside and despite suggestions that the latter is in line for a new long-term deal, Klopp’s ranks would sure be bolstered should a new signing be brought in during the summer transfer window.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara remain Liverpool’s first-choice names on the team sheet in midfield and the trio exceeded expectations with their showings last season to claim the domestic double – the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup – while securing the runners-up accolade in the Premier League and the Champions League.
An unprecedented quadruple was not to be realised for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds but the supporters and players alike would be hoping for a repeat of their 2021-22 showings to achieve the impossible this time around as Liverpool are backed to have used the transfer window to add quality talent to their squad.
Midfield, however, could prove to be the Achilles heel with no viable face to deputies for the likes of Henderson and Thiago as the young Curtis Jones and the now experienced name in Naby Keita fail to impress in spite of the extended first-team involvement given to the duo in recent times.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, the highly-rated teenage midfield talent, has his future subject to intense speculation since the turn of the year with Liverpool said to be right in the mix for the England international’s signature who appears set to stay put in Germany beyond this summer with Dortmund reluctant to lose another key first-team regular after Erling Haaland’s sale to Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp knows he will face fierce competition in the market for Bellingham’s services with Liverpool not expecting smooth sailing should they make a formal approach for the Dortmund starlet with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City also credited with a strong interest in moving in for the 19-year-old.
Our opinion is that Liverpool, should they be keen on making Bellingham a top name on their shopping list for next year’s summer window, can assure themselves of a solid-looking midfield department ahead of the start of the new campaign despite question marks posed over the depth in the centre of the park for Klopp’s men.
Naby Keita will look to win over his critics, which are believed to many across the land, and with the Gineuan in his final year of stay at Anfield, is backed to make an impression which could be his ticket to a new long-term deal and more promising years ahead of him in the colours of Liverpool.

Returning from a nasty injury that left him on the sidelines for the majority of the last season amid his impressive breakthrough, Harvey Elliott is another player, despite his tender age, who can make people take note of his superb ability in the midfield role and the teenager will be joined by his former Fulham teammate and Liverpool’s summer recruit, Fabio Carvalho, to earn valuable game time and establish their credentials for the future.
