Liverpool, a team with a rich past and history, was searching for a fresh head coach. There were different possible candidates in the running, and the search was quite broad. The coach of Sporting CP, Ruben Amorim, stood up as a serious candidate amongst them as he possesses great credentials.
He had an excellent time leading Sporting CP to some significant wins during his stay there. His most notable achievement was securing the Primeira Liga, which showed both his leadership as well as tactical brilliance. In spite of these triumphs, Liverpool chose not to continue forward with Amorim.
Many factors affected the choice. Amorim’s selected style of play was one of the main factors. He favored the back three formation—a tactical configuration that had brought him all the glory and fame at the club.
But, this approach did not align with The Reds’ philosophy, which points out to a different formation.

Amorim’s long-term perspective was another important element. His long-term goals weren’t in line with the existing team or the  philosophy of the club. One of the primary areas of dispute during the conversations was this resulting slant of vision.
The public discussion between Amorim and West Ham United undoubtedly contributed to what happened as well. The meeting was met with disapproval by Liverpool’s decision-makers. Arne Slot, the manager of Feyenoord, was another candidate who was by now thought to be more suitable for the club’s management.
Slot emerged as the obvious choice to take the job. He was believed to be a stronger communicator, which is a highly sought-after quality in a team like Liverpool, where players as well as coaches have a close bond. Additionally, Slot was sincerely thrilled about having the opportunity to take on the role of coach at Anfield, and the team’s leadership shared his excitement.

To sum it up, there were multiple variables involved in Liverpool’s decision to pull out of the plan to sign Amorim. It required giving serious consideration to the playing tactics, long-term goals, and communication abilities. The club decided that Arne Slot is a more suitable fit after considering each of these aspects.
This choice highlights how challenging it is to select coaches in football, when a variety of factors are taken in to account and the best applicant isn’t always actually the best.
