Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has stated that he prefers remaining at Anfield despite entering his final 18 months of his current deal with the European champions.
Recent reports have even explained that Wijnaldum could leave Liverpool at the end of his current deal next season, but the 29-year-old feels otherwise.
Wijnaldum is currently putting in all his efforts into helping Liverpool to win their first Premier League title in 30 years. The Merseyside giants are leading the Premier League right now, with a mammoth 13 point lead at the summit of the table also with a game in hand.
Liverpool is also unbeaten in the league so far and the Klopp’s unit has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Wijnaldum has been imperative for Liverpool in this campaign and has started in 19 of the 20 Premier League games.
Since joining Liverpool from Newcastle United back in the summer of 2016 and Klopp has trusted the Dutchman, putting his faith in him in crucial games in recent seasons as well. Wijnaldum has been one of the unsung heroes of the Liverpool team and it appears that the club is close to his heart as well following a wonderful few seasons and his rise to prominence has made him a fan favorite.
Wijnaldum has already won the UEFA Champions League trophy, one UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Reds in a stellar 2019, summing up a brilliant year for him and his team and it seems that the midfielder is here to stay.
