Wolves hosted Liverpool in one of the start match in midweek as battle ensued at the Molineux Stadium.
Before this game, we’ve seen the likes of Everton square up with Newcastle United with the Magpies pulling a surprise shock with 2 goals in to avoid defeat against host Everton despite been 2-0 down for much of the contest.
This awakened the desire for a memorable week of football as Wolves and Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool offered even better with scintillating performance on the pitch.
Following Wolves 1-2 loss to their Anfield counterparts, we evaluate three significant points from the game.
Liverpool’s Unbeaten Run Extended
The case was made clear by Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool side as they have (Reds) refused to be beaten all through the season. This stretches Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 40 games in the EPL dating as far back as last season when Liverpool lost their last game.
The Reds are 9 matches away from reaching the record set by Arsenal who went 49 matches unbeaten in the 2004/2005 campaign.
This is remarkable as the Reds was sensational particularly Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino who sealed the match for Liverpool with a goal worthy of note at the moment.
Bad News For Liverpool
The result was what Liverpool wanted but the injury to star forward and “African King” the African footballer of the year 2019 Sadio Mane is not a positive one for the Reds.
They may be coasting on their way to the EPL title already but there are still other competitions to compete in the season for the Liverpool.
This is more especially on the European scene where they face Diego Simeone’s Athletic Madrid side in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture.
It remains to be seen the extent of his injury as fans pray and hope for the best based on the availability of Mane for Liverpool in the next few games.
Wolves Deserve a Credit
The Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves side had a good game but it took the immense quality and sheer determination for Liverpool to get them better of the host at home.
They were impressive going forward causing Liverpool some trouble of their own in the game.
How about that for a goal as Raul Jimenez equalized to bring the scores at 1-1. This is very much commendable from the home side more also for the colorful supporters that ensured that Liverpool conceded for the first time after the last eight games.
