Wolves 0-1 Liverpool Match Report | Premier League 21-22

Liverpool left it very late in their weekend travels to the Midlands to take on Wolves with substitute Divock Origi sealing the win for the Reds.

MATCH PROCEEDINGS

The first attempt arrived for the visitors inside the opening 20 minutes with Diogo Jota’s header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold delivery blocked.

Liverpool had a host of chances through on goal as Thiago Alcantara’s pass into the box found Alexander-Arnold who made the run in behind the Wolves backline but sent his effort flying.

Jota had another header on the wrong side of the ball with the Portugal international picked out by Arnold at the back post following which Romain Saiss was called into action.

Early on in the second period, Liverpool survived a scare when Hwang Hee-Chan was thwarted by Alexander-Arnold before the former could have a sight of the goal.

On the other end of the pitch, Thiago was denied by Raul Jimenez with a brave block and the follow up kept out by Saiss as Jurgen Klopp’s men remained on the hunt for the elusive opener.

Perhaps the best chance of the match came Jota’s way at the hour mark with the Liverpool man having two Wolves defenders on the line one of which in Conor Coady made a heroic block with his midriff to deny Jota from six yards out.

Divock Origi came off the bench in the dying embers of the game and the Belgian proved to be the match-winner for his side with a composed finish past Sa late into stoppage time.
