Ahead of his side visiting Anfield for the weekend showdown in the Premier League, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was full of praise for the Reds’ summer signing Diogo Jota, a player who had been starring for Nuno’s side until this summer.
Jota completed a big-money move to the Merseysiders in August after three years in the Wolves shirt as Jurgen Klopp sought to add attacking reinforcements to his first-team squad. And the Portugal international has been nothing short of sensational while turning out in the Liverpool FC colours, bagging nine goals in just 15 outings.
In his pre-match interview, Nuno showered praise on his former player, with the Wolves gaffer adding that the Midlands-based outfit were indeed very proud for Jota’s success for his new club, which has come at a very early point of time in his Anfield career.
“We are proud and happy he is doing well,” Nuno told his pre-match press conference.
”He is a fantastic player. We shared so many things and that will never be forgotten. He is in the right place but now he is an opponent.
“We know his characteristics but we are playing Liverpool. He is one of a number of talented players Liverpool has.”
The 23-year-old Jota will be in line to grab a starting spot in the Reds XI that will take the field on Sunday at Anfield, as Klopp will have little incentive to bench any of his attacking options following the mid-week Champions League victory over Ajax.
