Wolves have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to sign Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino this summer despite several clubs keen on the Japan international’s signature.
Leeds United and Fulham had been credited with a strong interest in prizing away Minamino from Anfield in this summer’s transfer window with the player keen to secure regular first-team football elsewhere next season.
Luis Diaz’s arrival at Anfield in the January window earlier in the year further curtailed Minamino’s game time for Jurgen Klopp’s side and the former RB Leipzig player might be convinced to seek a new playing destination before the summer window closes.
According to a report from Football Insider, Midlands outfit Wolves might be in line to pip Leeds United and Fulham to Minamino’s services with the Molineux side opening contact with the player and his representatives.
Minamino served as a useful rotation player for Klopp in Liverpool’s superb 2021-22 campaign with the 27-year-old leading the goalscoring charts in the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup with both trophies won by the Merseysiders.
