Divock Origi has emerged on Wolves’ transfer radar as an ideal short-term cover for the injured Raul Jimenez, reports from The Athletic suggest.
Origi’s first-team involvement at Anfield over the last couple of seasons has been extremely limited, with reports circulating in recent times that Jurgen Klopp was more than willing to sanction the Belgian international’s sale in the upcoming January transfer window.
With the 25-year-old striker having featured in just seven minutes of Premier League game-time across the ongoing campaign, it is understood that he would want to seal an exit from the Merseyside outfit in order to make a case for his inclusion in the Belgiuam squad ahead of the 2021 UEFA Euros.
A fee worth £20 million will reportedly be sought by the Premier League holders as an incentive to part ways with Origi in January as Wolves seek to dip into the transfer market to add attacking reinforcements to Nuno’s first-team squad.
Jimenez’s extended absence owing to his head injury could make the case for Wolves to spend big on bringing Origi to the Molineux Stadium, and with the Belgian’s deal with Jurgen Klopp’s side running until 2024, Liverpool FC are unlikely to listen to cut-price offers for letting go of a cult Anfield figure in Origi.
