Xherdan Shaqiri Pleased With Brave Liverpool Display Against Burnley

Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s half-time team talk changed the spirit and bravery to spark a 3-1 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

After going 1-0 down against Burnley at Turf Moor in the 54th minute, Liverpool pulled up their socks and showed that they are completely ready to go head to head with Manchester City for the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s side is the only team along with Liverpool that is still undefeated in the Premier League so far.

Although City is leading the table with 41 points, 2nd placed Liverpool are hot on their tails with 39 points and these two clubs look like the only teams competing for the Premier League title. Sparking a 3-1 victory coming from behind against Burnley, Swiss superstar Xherdan Shaqiri has insisted that Liverpool must be on the front foot at all times.

All three of Liverpool’s goals came in the second half and Shaqiri finished off the game in the 91st minute scoring off a brilliant counter-attack. While speaking to Sky Sports, the 27-year-old Liverpool winger said that his side needs to be brave and keep this momentum going, “We have to be brave in these games. We know we are going to have a lot of possession, but obviously, we have to defend well.”

Shaqiri also stated that the half-time team talk that German boss Jurgen Klopp gave was key to the victory over Burnley, “At half-time he (Klopp) said we have to be more in the game, more lively in the game, and to win the ball more because a lot of times we played not forward but back. We stayed calm and tried to manage the game and stay in the game and in the end, we deserved to win.”

There is a feeling that Liverpool is on the verge of something extremely special at the moment as they are really grinding out the results and ensuring they stay within touching distance of Manchester City.
