Liverpool FC attacker Xherdan Shaqiri has put rest to rumors surrounding his future at Anfield by confirming his intention of staying at the Merseyside club next season. Shaqiri had enjoyed very less of first-team involvement last season for the Reds across their title-winning league campaign.
The Swiss international had been tipped to seal a move away from the Anfield giants this summer. With just six Premier League appearances being made by the 28-year old last season for Jurgen Klopp’s side, Shaqiri’s future in the Liverpool FC shirt had not been guaranteed beyond this summer.
However, the player has insisted that he remains keen on playing for the Reds ahead of the upcoming season. Shaqiri did admit to being frustrated with the lack of playing opportunities awarded to him in the preceding league campaign.
‘Always if you are injured or if you are not playing, you’re frustrated,’
But the former Bayern Munich man expressed his desire of giving his best for Liverpool FC come next season. Shaqiri voiced hope of winning more trophies for the club along with his teammates following their 2019-20 Premier League victory.
‘We have the capacity, we have the team who is still hungry and wants to win many titles.
‘To win the title last season was unbelievable, something different after 30 years for the fans and for us too.
The 28-year old Swiss international joined up with his fellow Reds at the Merseyside club’s pre-season camp being held in Austria. Shaqiri would certainly be looking forward to making an impact on Jurgen Klopp’s side in the forthcoming campaign as the attacker had done so in his first season at Anfield after his move from Stoke City.
