The former Stoke City man has been linked with an Anfield exit in this summer’s transfer window in light of the few playing opportunities that have come his way these past couple of seasons on Merseyside.
A couple of Serie A clubs have registered their interest in signing the 29-year-old Shaqiri but it remains to be seen whether the player is keen on calling it quits in the Liverpool shirt ahead of the next season.
He had been speculated to leave Anfield last summer as well, however, had ended up staying put to fight for a spot on Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheet despite having the new Liverpool recruit Diogo Jota to compete against.
With two years still to go on the initial five-year-long contract he penned when joined the Reds in the summer of 2018, Shaqiri has time on his hands during this month-long Euros to make a concrete decision over his future at the club.
“At the moment, I don’t really want to talk about it,” he said as quoted by The Echo.
“I have a contract there and after the Euros, of course, I will talk to my agent. We will look at the situation and then we will decide how to proceed.”
