In a major turn of events following reports of Xherdan Shaqiri testing positive for COVID-19, a recent announcement by the Swiss FA confirm that the Liverpool FC winger’s initial test report turned out to be a false positive, a statement from the Merseyside club revealed across Liverpool FC’s Twitter page.
This means that the 28-year old Shaqiri is in fact cleared to feature in the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures for Switzerland, despite being ruled out at first for both games following his test reports for the pandemic virus being reported as positive.
Two Liverpool FC first-team stars have already been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive, with Sadio Mane becoming the second player of Jurgen Klopp’s side to self-isolate after Thiago Alcantara’s initial diagnosis prior to Liverpool FC’s home win over Arsenal.
The Swiss Football Association has provided an update on Xherdan Shaqiri after a second COVID-19 test returned a negative result for the #LFC player.

Shaqiri also becomes eligible to play for the Reds in the next Premier League fixture for the Anfield giants, a Merseyside Derby against Everton on October 17. Jurgen Klopp’s men are due to visit Goodison Park in what would prove to be a much-touted encounter between the two clubs, taking into account Everton’s terrific start to the league campaign.
