3 strikers Liverpool can aim to sign in summer 2021 to replace Roberto Firmino

Liverpool have a crucial transfer window this summer in the run-up to the 2021-22 campaign and Jurgen Klopp will burden the responsibility of making some major moves in the market to bolster his ranks.

Ibrahima Konate’s arrival on Merseyside remains Liverpool’s only purchase of this summer with it being said that the new Anfield recruit is one who will be a significant addition to last season’s injury-ravaged Liverpool defensive line.

Klopp, on the other hand, also has deadwood to clear out in the form of Divock Origi and Marko Grujic, the latter of whom has failed to cement a first-team role at Anfield despite being Klopp’s first signing since taking over at the club.

Heading into the new Premier League season which commences in less than six weeks, there is increasing speculation whether Klopp will be looking to bring in a new striker to provide tough competition to Roberto ‘Bobby’ Firmino, a name that had failed to dazzle the Liverpool fans across the past season.

Firmino’s performances endured a drastic slump during Liverpool’s miserable run of form since the turn of year last season and the Brazil international finished the campaign with just nine goals to his name as new boy Diogo Jota gave him a run for his money for the striking role in the Reds front trio.

Representing Brazil at the ongoing Copa America, Firmino has struggled for goals with just one strike to his name in four outings so far, which gives birth to talk that Liverpool could be induced to use the market to sign a new goal-getter.

Here are three names we believe Jurgen Klopp will be keeping tabs on for what remains of this summer’s transfer window-

1. Kylian Mbappe

Perhaps a very long shot signing that could materialise for Liverpool is a long-term transfer target in Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe who is understood to be keen on leaving the Ligue 1 giants.

With Mbappe yet to agree upon a contract extension with the Parisians and now into his final year of the current deal, speculation is rife that Liverpool and Real Madrid could be in line to propose a move for the France international who did not enjoy the best of outings at the UEFA European Championships with the World Cup winners.

2. Donyell Malen

In what could prove to be a fantastic piece of transfer business for the Merseyside Reds should Holland international Donyell Malen make his way to Anfield this summer.

The PSV talisman, who found the back of the net 19 times last season in league action, has been heavily linked with an exit from his homeland with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund monitoring his transfer situation.

3. Lorenzo Insigne

Similar to Mbappe, Napoli frontman Insigne is now into his final year of the contract to the Italian giants and at 30 years of age, the player will be drawn towards securing a move to the Premier League amid reported interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

Insigne has been in terrific form for Roberto Mancini’s Italians who are now heavy favourites to clinch the coveted trophy at the Euros and should the winger be made available by Napoli for a cut-price fee, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will back themselves to fend off competition from elsewhere to land his signature.
