Liverpool confirm signing of Ibrahima Konate on a five-year deal

Ibrahima Konate has been unveiled as Liverpool’s first signing of the 2021 summer transfer window after weeks of drawn-out negotiations between the Anfield giants and RB Leipzig.

In an official statement put out by the club, the 21-year-old Frenchman is confirmed to have signed on a five-year-long deal with the Merseyside Reds which will run until the summer of 2026.

Klopp gets his first signing of the summer in a highly-promising centre-back

Liverpool had faced a major struggle this past season owing to the injury crisis at Anfield which left Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all sidelined with season-ending injury layoffs.

In light of these events there had been pressure on Jurgen Klopp to use the summer transfer window to bring in a quality talent at centre-back which the Reds gaffer has delivered upon in the form of Konate.

Konate comes with huge expectations on his young shoulders

The now ex-Leipzig man has earned 12 caps at the U21 level for France and is touted to be one of the most promising defensive names in world football.

With his move to Anfield ahead of the 2021-22 season, Konate will hope to make an instant impact in the Liverpool colours and establish himself to be a regular starter for Jurgen Klopp’s side who will hope to reclaim title-winning glory.
