Liverpool supporters are eagerly awaiting the start of the new season with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds expected to push for glory following last season’s bittersweet memories.
Failure to overcome Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League came just days after Jordan Henderson and Co. missed out on the Premier League crown to Manchester City by one point in an enthralling finish to the top flight campaign.
Jurgen Klopp has been kept busy in this summer’s transfer window with the Liverpool head coach dealing with the departure of his long-serving wide player Sadio Mane who signed for Bayern Munich and leaves a significant void to fill in the attacking role on the Liverpool team sheet.
Darwin Nunez’s arrival in a mega-money deal, a potential club record transfer at Anfield, does ensure that Klopp has lined up a quality replacement for Mane to bolster the forward roster heading into the new term.

Here are 5 names in the Liverpool fold we reckon could turn out to be star performers for their team across the upcoming season –
1. Naby Keita
The midfield maestro, who joined Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders in the summer of 2018 and was promptly given the No.8 jersey which was worn by club icon Steven Gerrard, enters the final 12 months of his current terms with Liverpool.
It is now or never for Keita to make an impression on the staff and fans alike with the former RB Leipzig man expected to earn an improved deal should he put in a consistent set of displays.
2. Joe Gomez
Gomez became the latest name in the Anfield camp to put pen to paper on a long-term deal and despite his limited first-team action last season, the England international will be hoping to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
He will have French centre-back Ibrahima Konate providing tough competition for a berth on the team sheet in the centre-back role but Gomez has the ability to rediscover his best form.
3. Diogo Jota
The Portuguese forward became an instant hit when joined Liverpool from Wolves two summers ago but Jota failed to hit the ground running in a consistent manner towards the backend of last season.
With Nunez’s recruitment set to shake things up in the Liverpool forward lineup, Klopp will count upon Jota to get back to his usual prolific self in front of the goal and deliver the firepower for his side.
4. Roberto Firmino
Another attacking player in Klopp’s ranks is the Anfield favourite Roberto Firmino who, like Jota, has seen better days on Merseyside with the former looking for a much-needed return to his best form which made him an indispensable name in the XI for Liverpool.
Question marks continue to be posed over Firmino’s future on Merseyside but with the next season set to commence soon, the Brazilian striker will be hoping to silence his critics with his displays out there on the football pitch.
5. Harvey Elliott
Elliott made his way back to the Liverpool squad in the second half of the 2021-22 season after a nasty injury left the teenage talent serving a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The youngster is backed to make his mark once again on Jurgen Klopp and Co. with his showings and earn regular game time despite the host of midfield options available at Klopp’s disposal.
