Liverpool FC have resorted to contacting the Premier League over the use of VAR going horribly against Jurgen Klopp’s men in Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash that finished in a 2-2 draw.
The Reds have demanded an explanation over the decision of the VAR officials regarding Jordan Henderson’s stoppage-time goal being disallowed due to Sadio Mane being adjudged offside in the buildup play to the Liverpool FC skipper’s potential match-winning strike.
Moreover, there was a great level of furore following the Goodison Park showdown over the off-the-ball challenge on Virgil van Dijk by Everton No.1 Jordan Pickford which left the former unable to continue on the pitch. Many felt that Pickford was deserving of a red card, despite Van Dijk being in an offside position prior to him being taken out by the English international goalkeeper.
According to reports from the Guardian, the Champions of England have asked of the Premier League board as to why Pickford’s sending off was not warranted by match official Michael Oliver, and why Sadio Mane’s outstretched arm was deemed to be in an offside position.
