Recent reports from The Sun suggest that Brighton will be seeking an offer in the region of £50 million to part ways with the in-demand Ben White should Liverpool FC make a move for the highly-rated centre-back in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The 22-year old defender has emerged as a viable option for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the aftermath of Virgil van Dijk being ruled out for 7-8 months with an ACL injury, and the Premier League champions being extremely short on first-team names in the defensive department of the squad.
White had been a target for the Anfield giants this summer as well, however, Klopp had chosen against signing any player to fill the void left by Dejan Lovren’s exit in the senior squad at the club. Since then, the ex-Leeds United loanee had signed on to a new four-year-long deal with the Amex outfit.
With Brighton demanding a seemingly huge fee of £50 million to let go of their now first-team star centre-back, it would be interesting to see whether the Reds give in to the Seagulls’ pricing concerns, and land White’s signing in January to fortify their current options.
