Marseille central defender Duje Caleta-Car is hoping that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool FC reignite their interest in his services months after his switch to Anfield failed to materialise during the January window earlier this year.
Reports from Le10 Sport claim that Jorge Sampaoli, who recently took over at the Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, is open to parting ways with the 24-year-old Croatia international and such developments could be of interest to the Reds heading into this summer.
Caleta-Car desirous of a move to Merseyside
Caleta-Car had almost signed on as a Liverpool FC first-teamer this January but Marseille aborted his sale to the Premier League holders in the final hours of deadline-day leaving Jurgen Klopp to snap up Ozan Kabak on an initial loan agreement.
The centre-back now would prefer to move to Anfield in the summer and is hopeful of Klopp, who is on the lookout for additional reinforcements at the back, to rekindle his interest in the Marseille man.
Kabak’s future beyond the summer could have the final say on Caleta-Car’s transfer
Should the Reds decide to trigger Kabak’s buy-out clause thus ensuring his future in the Liverpool FC colours beyond the upcoming summer, Klopp might be convinced of ending his interest once and for all in securing Caleta-Car’s signing.
Kabak has established first-team credentials since arriving on Merseyside in January and on the back of a consistent run of showings looks set to become a regular fixture in the Anfield setup.
