Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter is being looked at by Liverpool as a transfer target heading into the summer with Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan also keeping tabs on the player.
Reports from BILD claim that Ginter whose deal at Monchengladbach comes to a close in 2022 is either expected to put pen to paper on extended terms or seek an exit ahead of the forthcoming campaign.
Liverpool to be rivalled by fellow heavyweights for Ginter
Inter Milan are fresh off their Serie A title-winning heroics and Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to regroup in the summer after what has been a miserable domestic season meaning Liverpool face tough competition should they choose to make Ginter a priority target.
The German defender has been an influential performer for Borussia Monchengladbach and with him being available at a cut-price deal in the summer, there is bound to be no shortage of suitors in the market for the 27-year-old centre-back.
Do the Reds really need another centre-back option?
Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp is believed to be on the hunt for another option to field in the heart of the backline despite recent reports of him almost wrapping up the negotiations for long-term target Ibrahima Konate.
Should Klopp decide to go ahead with an approach for Ginter in the summer it would be interesting to see what lies in store for Joel Matip who in spite of his first-team regularity these past seasons has been a major injury concern for the Merseysiders.
