Liverpool have registered an interest in making a move for Hakan Calhanoglu but no official approach yet

AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu has been monitored by Liverpool ahead of this summer’s transfer window with the Turkish playmaker’s deal with the Serie A side expiring at the end of June, according to Daniele Longo.

The report, however, claims that Liverpool have not yet extended a formal offer to the Milan first-teamer despite Calhanoglu being tracked by a number of big clubs across the continent.

On the back of a superb season under his belt with nine goals and 12 assists from the Turk helping AC Milan secure a Champions League berth for the upcoming campaign, the Italian giants remain wary over losing out on their creative influence for free in the summer.

Liverpool look set to say their goodbyes to the long-serving Gini Wijnaldum who is on the verge of finalising his move to FC Barcelona ahead of the new season just days after turning out in his final match in the Reds shirt.

With Wijanldum’s exit opening up a midfield spot in Jurgen Klopp’s side, the Liverpool boss will be keen on using the market to bring in a quality replacement and on a free transfer Calhanoglu could prove to be a fantastic purchase for the Merseysiders.
