Liverpool not considering midfield reinforcements this summer despite Wijnaldum’s exit

The Reds might not dip into the transfer market this summer to bring in a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum who looks set to sign for long-term chasers FC Barcelona ahead of the new season.

Wijnaldum played his farewell game for Jurgen Klopp’s side on the final day of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign in a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace that assured the Reds of their place in the Champions League and the Holland international is understood to be on the verge of agreeing upon a three-year-long deal in Spain.

With many believing that Klopp will be tempted to sign a midfield player this summer to shore up his options in the centre of the park, Sunday World claims that this might not be the case with the Reds gaffer having a plethora of names in that department.

Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita are expected to return to the Anfield fold in time for the 2021-22 season and the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are now fit to feature following their injury issues in the backend of the recently concluded campaign.

Nevertheless, Brighton’s wantaway star Yves Bissouma has attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in the country with Liverpool also being tipped to be involved in the race to make a move for the Mali international.
