Steve Nicol urges Liverpool to sign long-term target Yves Bissouma

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol says that if he was in Jurgen Klopp’s shoes it would Brighton’s Yves Bissouma he would make a move for in the summer transfer window.

The Anfield giants are set to lose out on their long-serving midfield general Gini Wijnaldum who has nearly completed his transfer to long-term suitors FC Barcelona ahead of the 2021-2022 season.

Speaking on ESPN FC, Nicol believes Liverpool should dip into the transfer market to find a replacement for Wijnaldum and the Mali international Bissouma is one name that would prove to be an ideal addition to the Anfield camp.

“Go and sign Bissouma from Brighton. That’s who I would sign if I were Klopp,”

Klopp has been urged by many in the Liverpool fanbase to bring in a midfield player this summer despite recent reports claiming that the German could decide against it with him having a number of options in that department.

Jordan Henderson has returned from his groin injury just in time for the UEFA Euros next month and the Liverpool skipper will be raring to go for the new season with his club after having missed the backend of the previous campaign.
