Liverpool have fallen behind fellow Premier League heavyweights Arsenal in the race to land the prized signature of Brighton’s defensive star Ben White, claim reports from the Daily Mail.
The England international central defender who has been drafted as the replacement for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold by Gareth Southgate for the ongoing UEFA European Championships has been linked with an exit from The Amex this summer.
The Reds have registered their interest in signing the highly-promising centre-back since last summer but with Brighton holding firm over their £50 million price-tag on the player’s head, Jurgen Klopp is believed to have taken a back seat.
Despite having brought in the Frenchman Ibrahima Konate on a long-term deal, Liverpool are understood to be on the hunt for another defender to fill in at the heart of the backline owing to speculation over Nat Phillips’ future at Anfield beyond this transfer window.
It is Arsenal, however, who now lead Liverpool and Manchester United in the approach for White who enjoyed a fantastic debut campaign in the Premier League last season for Graham Potter’s outfit.
