Scottish outfit Celtic reignite interest in Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies

Ben Davies had sealed a move to Liverpool in the 2021 January transfer window despite Celtic positioning themselves as suitors for the then Preston North End central defender.

Heading into the 2021-2022 campaign, Davies is yet to make his debut outing for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders, six months into his life at Anfield following his £2 move to Liverpool from the Championship.

Reports from The Daily Mail now suggest that Celtic are looking to join the fray once more for the defender who has not been a signing that had been hoped for by many on Merseyside when he joined the club.

With Liverpool announcing the capture of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig and the injured trio of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip set to return to the fold in time for the new season, Davies is backed to fall down the pecking order which means sparse minutes will be coming his way in the near future.

It is understood that Celtic along with Championship club Bournemouth  are in line to offer a season-long loan deal for the Liverpool outcast with Jurgen Klopp having the final say on another possible departure from his first-team ranks.
