Gini Wijnaldum’s recent comments concerning his exit from Anfield in this summer’s transfer window has not gone down well with Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher who has hit back at the new Paris Saint-Germain recruit.
Wijnaldum chose to play out his contract on Merseyside which ran until the end of the 2020-2021 campaign and Jurgen Klopp’s repeated attempt to hand a new deal to the Holland international were rebuffed by the player.
Despite Catalan giants FC Barcelona long considered to be the frontrunners to sign the former Newcastle United midfield man, it was Paris Saint-Germain who shockingly ended up landing Wijnaldum’s signature on a three-year-long contract earlier this summer.
The now ex-Liverpool player had chosen to blame the club’s fanbase who he said singled him out for his uninspiring run of showings amid the speculation that he wanted to call it quits at Anfield the upcoming summer window.
I love Gini but this is not right, social media is a circus & every club has clowns. Turn off your notifications & if it’s bothering you that much delete the app! He wanted more money the club said no, that’s football! https://t.co/NNmiyFXYBY

However, Wijnaldum’s comments have earned Carragher’s ire with the Sky Sports pundit taking to Twitter to express his opinion on the matter by claiming that the Dutchman was only after a major wage bump which was not acceptable to the Liverpool board.
