Four-way Premier League contest on to sign Nat Phillips this summer

Nat Phillips is understood to have four Premier League clubs chasing his much-coveted signature in what remains of this summer’s transfer window.

The central defender was key to Liverpool’s resurgence late on in the last campaign with his solid displays at the back pivotal to Jurgen Klopp’s men ensuring a top-four finish in the league standings.

But with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez returning from long-term injury layoffs and the summer arrival of Ibrahima Konate on Merseyside, Phillips is up for sale by Liverpool who are seeking a bid in the region of £12 million to £15 million to part ways with the defender.

Reports from The Athletic claim that Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle United and Southampton are the four clubs across England involved in the contest to land Phillips’ signing before the transfer window slams shut.

Should Liverpool not receive the asking price for the highly-promising talent, Jurgen Klopp is believed to be glad on retaining him beyond this summer as a back-up option in the first-team camp at Anfield.
