Liverpool’s highly-promising defensive talent Rhys Williams is in line to complete his loan move to Championship outfit Swansea City in the final hours of this summer’s transfer window.
Reports from The Athletic back the young central defender to sign for Swansea City in a loan deal that will run until the summer of 2022.
The 20-year-old Williams had been handed an extended run of first-team football at Anfield towards the backend of last season and his centre-back pairing with Nat Phillips was considered crucial for Liverpool securing a top-four finish in the league.
Jurgen Klopp’s decision to ship out Williams on a loan arrangement could be factored in by the arrival of Ibrahima Konate on Merseyside earlier this summer in what happens to be the only incoming for the Merseysiders over the course of the transfer window.
Konate’s signing makes him an established option for Liverpool in the heart of the backline as he will be expected to provide much-needed cover in that role for the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.
