Arsenal are believed to be planning a swoop for Liverpool outcast Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the January transfer window in which Mikel Arteta will be backed to further bolster his ranks.
Chamberlain has been frozen out of the first-team plans of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield early on in this new season and the England international is understood to be worried over his lack of opportunities on the pitch.
Reports from The Sun claim that Chamberlain, a former Arsenal player who spent six years at the Emirates Stadium before joining Liverpool in the summer window of 2017, is pondering over a return to North London come Janaury.
The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order on Merseyside and with the young Curtis Jones displaying a brilliant zeal of form as of late, Jurgen Klopp could be willing to sanction Chamberlain’s departure to his old club Arsenal.
Klopp himself has been on the hunt for midfield reinforcements in the market and Chamberlain’s potential exit would create a much-needed vacancy in the Anfield roster and bring in funds for the Liverpool boss to utilise on a fresh face.
