Curtis Jones is likely to be fit in time for Liverpool’s weekend clash at Old Trafford, according to Jurgen Klopp’s comments ahead of the game.
The Liverpool boss while speaking to the club’s official website hinted that Jones will be in the mix for selection come Sunday with the England U21 international set for a return to training on Friday afternoon at the AXA Training Centre.
Thiago Alcantara, however, continues to remain an injury absentee for Jurgen Klopp with the Spaniard tipped for a return on either side of the forthcoming international break next month.
“The squad is alright. We have to see, that’s how it is,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com on Friday. “We are only two days after the game and we have to make sure that we all get fit again, but they are the typical things. I couldn’t tell you now who is 100 per cent available and who is not.
“Just what’s clear is that Curtis will train today with us the full session, that’s the plan. And Thiago not. So, these are the two things I know for the moment.”
Jones had picked up an injury while on international duty the last break and had not played any part in Liverpool’s recent outings at Watford and Atletico Madrid.
The 20-year-old midfielder had been in flying form for Liverpool before his injury trouble with the lack of options in his roster forcing Klopp to draft Jones for extended first-team involvement.
