Danny Mills backs Liverpool to tie down Mohamed Salah to a new deal

Danny Mills has backed Liverpool to tie down Mohamed Salah to a new deal with the winger in line to pen a £425,000-a-week contract at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s camp are currently involved in a deadlock with Salah’s representatives with neither party able to agree upon extended terms for the Egypt international star forward beyond the summer of 2023.

With the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain taking an interest in Salah’s contract situation, Klopp is understood to be pushing for the Liverpool board to resolve the matter swiftly.

Salah’s demands of pocketing a weekly wage north of £500,000 are unlikely to be entertained by the Reds, according to the rumour mill, but the former Chelsea man is set to be offered a major bump which will make him the highest-earning member of the Anfield fold.

Played-turned-pundit Mills while speaking to Football Insider reckons that Liverpool and Mohamed Salah will agree on a £425,000-a-week contract which will bring an end to the extended period of negotiations that have been underway since the summer.

“It will be fine,”

“The fact that they’ve started to negotiate. Who is going to pay Mo Salah more than that? Paris Saint-Germain, that’s it. Unless he wants to go and play in the middle east or something.

“There is a ceiling on everything. You can ask for a £1million-a-week, but you’re not going to get it. The higher you start, hopefully, you lift that bottom line a little bit further than where Liverpool are.

“If you ask for £400,000-a-week and they offer £350,000-a-week there’s a good chance you’re going to end up on £375,000-a-week.

“If you ask for £500,000-a-week and they offer £350,000-a-week there’s a good chance you’re going to end up on £425,000-a-week or maybe £400,000-a-week. That’s maybe where you wanted to be in the first place, it’s standard negotiations.

“There’s enough time, he’s clearly happy, he said he wants to stay now it’s just a case of come on, get it done.”
