Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is reportedly on Liverpool’s transfer radar with the promising centre-back looking for a move away from Camp Nou.
According to reports from the Spanish news outlet El Nacional, it is claimed that Liverpool are suitors for the young defender who has earned rave reviews for his showings in the Barcelona colours.
However, talks between Araujo and the Catalan outfit have reportedly hit a stumbling block owing to Barcelona’s constraints on the financial front since this summer’s transfer window.
Liverpool are well stocked in the defensive department following the recruitment of Frenchman Ibrahima Konate in the summer but with Araujo’s contract standoff in Spain, Jurgen Klopp could be lured into making a move for the wantaway defensive talent.
A €45 million valuation by the Barcelona camp for the 6 ft 2 in Araujo is likley to put off clubs interested in his signature, including Liverpool, with Klopp on the lookout for an emergency signing to bolster his midfield ranks.
