Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has downplayed Liverpool’s interest in re-signing Gini Wijnaldum this summer amidst the recent speculation that the Dutchman was being eyed up by his former side.
Wijnaldum had called it quits at Anfield last year following a long-drawn-out contract impasse with the midfield man making the move to Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
His debut campaign in the French capital, however, was a disastrous one and with the summer window underway, there had been rumours doing the rounds that a return to Merseyside could be on the cards for the 31-year-old Wijnaldum.
Liverpool are not in talks to sign Gini Wijnaldum from Paris Saint-Germain as of today. Rumours are described as ‘fake’ by sources. ⛔️🇳🇱 #LFC

Romano has claimed that there is no interest from the Liverpool camp in moving in for the Holland international but instead, Jurgen Klopp’s side would look to prioritise a contract extension for Naby Keita.
Keita would be heading into his final year of stay at the club come when the next season starts and the Liverpool boss Klopp is hopeful of tying down the Guinean international to renewed terms.
