Liverpool Captain James Milner Very Disappointed After Arsenal Game

The Reds captain James Milner has stated that Liverpool should have put away their chances against Arsenal during their weekend draw.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool may have felt like they had dropped two points during their trip to North London this weekend when they took the lead against Arsenal just after the hour mark only for the Gunners to come back and score a late equalizer.

The draw meant that Liverpool still went top of the Premier League table but it gave title rivals Manchester City the chance to go two points ahead if they win their fixture against South coast club Southampton on Sunday.

The Reds took the lead through captain on the night James Milner, who also netted his 50th Premier League goal, but the Englishman was more disappointed that his side let the advantage slip.

While speaking to the club website after the encounter against Arsenal the 32 year old Milner stated that he was disappointed at side for not being able to convert their chances against the Gunners at the Emirates, “[We are] very disappointed really, which is a good thing I suppose, playing away at Arsenal, To be 1-0 up in the second half and not see it out, we are disappointed. With the chances we created, we should have scored a few more goals. It’s pleasing we are creating those chances, but we could have been a bit more ruthless and maybe not put as much pressure on ourselves not to concede to win the game.”

If the Reds are to compete for the Premier League title they need to win these games and that situation was built to show how resilient the Liverpool defense is but Arsenal did deserve a point from that game as well. Liverpool will return to playing Champions League football as they travel to Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.
