Robbie Fowler calls upon Liverpool to prioritise signing West Ham United star Declan Rice

Robbie Fowler called upon his old club Liverpool to prioritise signing West Ham United star Declan Rice to bolster the midfield options at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

Liverpool have endured a shaky start to the season and the midfield roster has come under criticism often for their below-par displays coupled with the increase in injury troubles for the likes of Thiago Alcantara and new signing Arthur Melo.

With the Anfield giants credited with a long-standing interest in moving in for the highly-rated Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham, ex-Liverpool frontman Fowler has urged them to mull over making a swoop for Premier League ace Declan Rice.

Rice is understood to be a long-term target for Chelsea, the midfielder’s former club before he made the move to Stamford Bridge, and the new owners at the Bridge are tipped to step up their efforts to sign the England international.

Speaking to FairBettingSites, Fowler said that he reckons Rice would fit the bill on Merseyside for Jurgen Klopp’s side who have been lacking that extra bit of creativity in the centre of the park.

“The [Jude] Bellingham link is brilliant because he’s a very good player, another player who I really like is Declan Rice.

“He fits into a Liverpool mould. Whether Liverpool are looking at players to come in, they have to have a certain amount of pedigree, those players need to have lots of energy.

“I do think Rice fits that bill, he’s a player who sits in the middle of the park but he can get around the pitch with his endeavour as well. Rice is a player I’d like Liverpool to sign. Not to be disrespectful to West Ham, but Rice will be a name on the top of many top teams’ lists whether that’s in the summer or January.

“Rice has been class for a few years now and you can see why clubs want him, but for me, he fits the mould of a Liverpool player.”
