Liverpool are considering a summer move for Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni with Jurgen Klopp looking to bolster his backline.
Calls for defensive additions to Klopp’s squad have mounted following the horror show in the Champions League Last 16 first leg defeat to Real Madrid who shipped five goals past a toothless Liverpool side at Anfield.
With England international Joe Gomez failing to impress despite the chances given to him and Joel Matip’s future on Merseyside hanging in the balance ahead of this summer, Liverpool could dip into the market for a fresh pair of legs.
According to a report from the Spanish publication Fichajes, it is claimed that Serie A star Alessandro Bastoni is one of the names on Liverpool’s shopping list for the summer window with the Italian catching the eye of the Merseysiders with his consistent displays.
Failure to qualify for next seaons’s Champions League, however, is all but certain to play spoilsport to Liverpool’s plans of signing not only the Inter man Bastoni but multiple targets including Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
