Liverpool have reportedly set a £15 million asking price for centre-back Joel Matip this summer with the Cameroon defender on the for sale list at Anfield.
Matip turns 32 in August and will enter the final year of his current terms at Anfield this summer which could convince Liverpool to cash in on the veteran central defender to avoid losing him for nothing.
According to a report from Football Insider, it is claimed that Matip’s future on Merseyside hangs in the balance with the Reds camp considering parting ways with him and moving in for a younger and more reliable figure to reinforce the backline.
He cut a sorry figure in the Liverpool defense during the 3-0 defeat to Wolves last time out in which Matip scored an own goal to hand Wolves the lead before they shipped two more past Jurgen Klopp’s men to record a memorable win.
With the arrival of Ibrahima Konate last year and the Frenchman’s subsequent run of stellar showings alongside Virgil van Dijk, there have rumours that Matip could be shown the exit door sooner rather than later.
