Ajax defender Jurrien Timber subject to interest from Liverpool

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is subject to interest from Liverpool who are one of the several Premier League giants keeping tabs on the wantaway youngster.

Liverpool could move in for a new centre-back in this summer’s transfer window with Joel Matip’s future at the club up in the air and Joe Gomez, who penned a new deal last year, failing to impress in his time on the pitch.

According to a report from 90min, it is claimed that Manchester United, who came close to signing the Ajax talent Timber last summer, remain keen to land his signature a year after his former Ajax boss Eric ten Hag was unable to convince him to make the move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham are also in the mix for Timber with the Dutch international ready to move on should the right offer come for his services this summer which could set the stage for a transfer battle against Klopp’s Liverpool.

The Reds are expected to prioritise the signing of a central midfielder when the transfer window reopens as Klopp looks to rebuild his engine room in time for the start of the next season.
