Divock Origi has established himself as a club icon for Liverpool in the recent few years. Though he has gained a lot of popularity in the Merseyside, England, he still remains as one of the most underrated players in the English Premier League.
The Belgian international plays as a forward for the Liverpool F.C and Belgium National team. His father, Mike Origi, was also a professional football player who played for Kenya.
Origi started his professional career at the French club, Lille in 2013 and scored on his professional debut for them. A year and a half later, he was signed for £10 million by Liverpool.
Divock Origi has not been a part of the Liverpool football club after his signing and was loaned back to Lille for the 2014/15 Ligue 1 season.
Later on, he was sent on a year long loan abroad to Germany to play for VfL Wolfsburg as he was struggling at Liverpool due to injuries during the 2017/2018 season, where he scored six goals for the Wolfsburg club.
Origi made his international debut for Belgium in 2014, and was part of their team which reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, during which he became the youngest goalscorer in Belgian World Cup history.
The Reds forward has produced some monumental moments of magic during the 2018–19 season after his return to the Liverpool from Germany.
He scored last-gasp winner against Everton, the winning goal of the Merseyside derby at Anfield in the sixth minute of injury time. Origi also famously scored two vital goals against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg comeback which knocked them out to send Liverpool through 4–3 on aggregate to the finals for the second consecutive season.
He even netted the most important goal of the 2018/19 season for Liverpool where he scored the second goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League Final of 2018/19 at Wanda Metropolitano stadium where Liverpool were crowned as the European champions for the sixth time in Madrid.
Till date, the 25 year old striker has scored 33 goals and 12 assists in 134 appearances for Liverpool club. In the 2019/20 season, he scored five goals and provided three assists in 32 appearances mostly coming off the bench as a sub player.
Divock Origi is considered as a super sub by the manager, Jurgen Klopp because he likes to deploy him during the critical times when the club desperately wants to score a goal.
The extraordinary dribbling skills and quick pace of the Belgian international has become a nightmare for the Premier League defenders as he tends to finish off in style almost all the time, if he gets the ball in the penalty area proving his lethal striking ability.
