Koulibaly urged to choose Liverpool FC as his next destination by former Chelsea FC player

Frank Leboeuf, the former Chelsea and France centre-back has urged Napoli’s world-class centre back Kalidou Koulibaly to turn down a move to Manchester United FC and instead focus upon signing for Premier League leaders Liverpool FC.

In recent weeks, Koulibaly has been linked with a move away from Italian side Napoli in the summer, having played most of his career at the club and becoming a colossal defender in the process. A number of top sides such as Liverpool FC, Manchester United FC, and Manchester City FC have declared their interest in signing the player.

Koulibaly has become one of the greatest defenders in the world alongside Reds centre back Virgil Van Dijk in recent seasons. The Senegal international’s performances in the Serie A and the UEFA Champions League with Napoli have caught the eye of many top European clubs.

The player is contracted to Napoli until 2023 and the Italian side will demand a hefty fee for Koulibaly in order to let their most valuable player depart the club. Napoli were reported to turn down a £71 million bid received from Manchester United FC with the hope of holding out for more.

Leboeuf has stated that he beleives Koulibaly should turn down any interest from Manchester United FC and should favour a move to the Reds due to the chance to play alongside arguably the current greatest defender the world, Virgil Van Dijk.

Leboeuf claimed that the Napoli defender could be tempted by such an opportunity to play alongside Van Dijk in the heart of Liverpool FC’s defence and win many trophies under the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

Moreover, Koulibaly has his Senegal teammate Sadio Mane in the Liverpool FC squad too and would not face any difficulties in adjusting to the Premier League.

If Koulibaly does move to Liverpool FC, it would be a frightening prospect for the other teams in the Premier League. The Reds defence is already considered to be the best in the league and with the addition of the brilliant Koulibaly to the ranks, it could get even better.
