Another laurel came Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp’s way, with the German being honoured with the League Managers Association Sir Alex Ferguson Manager of the Year trophy. The Reds’ incredible league-title winning campaign being spearheaded by Klopp’s management was the reason behind the award being bestowed upon the 53-year old.
Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Manchester United manager, showered praise on Klopp’s impact at Liverpool FC this season. Ferguson stated that the success coming the Liverpool FC manager’s way was unquestionably deserved by him.
Presenting the award to Klopp, the former Red Devils boss said “I’ll forgive you for waking me up at half past three in the morning to tell me that you’d won the league. Thank you! But anyway, you’ve thoroughly deserved it, well done.”
Klopp becomes the sixth Liverpool FC manager after Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Sir Kenny Dalglish, and the German’s predecessor at Anfield, Brendan Rodgers in being honoured with the LMA Manager of the Year award.
Klopp led Liverpool FC to a 99-point Premier League season, thus ending the club’s 30-year wait for the league title. The German coach’s performance as the Reds’ manager has been hailed by club legends Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish.
Upon receiving the award, Klopp expressed his gratitude towards his fellow coaching staff members at Liverpool FC. He also thanked the Liverpool FC players for their incredible showings this season on the pitch. The Liverpool FC boss stated that he was extremely gratified by the support shown by the club’s supporters whom he termed as ‘wonderful’.

The German voiced his delight at having the opportunity of being able to work with a spectacular bunch of people at the Merseyside club who played a big part in him being awarded the LMA Manager of the Year trophy.
The Reds’ coach had to fend off competition from a number of worthy candidates for the Alex Ferguson Trophy.
Klopp pipped Leeds United boss Marco Bielsa, Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth, and highly-rated Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder to win the LMA-given decoration.
