Trent Alexander Arnold has nabbed the Premier League Young Player of the Season award following his fantastic campaign for Liverpool FC in the recently concluded 2019-20 season. The Reds won their very first Premier League title this past season and the 21-year old Arnold played a massive part in making that happen.
The prestigious honor awarded to Arnold comes on the back of a spectacular year of football from the young full-back. He has become a regular fixture in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI over the past years since making his first-team debut for his boyhood side back in the 2016-17 season.
Arnold broke his own record of registering the most assists by a defender in a single league campaign this season. The English international’s tally of 13 assists across the Reds’ title-winning crusade surpassed his previous count of 12.
The Scouser is also nominated for the Player of the Season award alongside teammates Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane. The 2019-20 season has seen Arnold’s defensive acumen grow leaps and bounds as compared to before.
Often criticized for his lack of defensive solidarity on the flanks, the 21-year old has undoubtedly worked on his overall aspect of play from the right-back spot on the pitch this season. Arnold also found the back of the net four times for Jurgen Klopp’s side to help the Anfield giants end a 30-year wait for Premier League glory.
